Andrea Kaiser: Teacher, Performer, Composer
Andrea has been studying, performing, teaching and composing for more than 35 years. For 10 years, in the start of her career, she served as instructor, Chair of the Piano Department, and finally Dean of Students at the Community Music Center in Boston. Creative Music Theater for Children at the Boston Center for the Arts was founded by Andrea and colleagues of CMCB to encourage children to perform children’s operas and musicals, all of which she wrote.
Andrea’s compositions include sacred, folk, and pop music for singers. She also maintained a full studio in Waltham, MA. When she moved to New York City in the early 1970s, she opened a new teaching studio and introduced Creative Music Theatre to a new group of young performers. She taught at Hunter College as adjunct piano faculty. Over the years, her career expanded into the public sector, where she worked for state arts agencies, advancing cultural activity for communities and regions. Her company, Cultural Consulting Services, continues to provide clients with hands-on support for a variety of artistic ventures, new facilities, and strong organizational skills.
In October of 2013, Andrea retired from full-time work in order to spend the next phase of her life helping children, teens and adults to discover the gift of music. She and her husband designed and built a new addition to their home which features a lovely studio for teaching, performing and composing.
