My Studio: My studio is housed in a large, quiet space with lots of natural light. The two grand pianos face each other, and all students will get to experience playing ensemble music. There are more than 1,000 pieces of solo, duet, and two piano compositions in my private library, as well as piano/vocal, trumpet, violin, flute, etc. pieces, so that students can enjoy accompanying other instruments.
Approach: I have spent the last 35 years teaching, coaching, performing and composing for the piano. Students are interviewed as to individual goals, after which a plan for learning is developed and approved by the student and family. All students receive a classical base in note reading, sight reading, music theory, ear training, diversity of styles and composition. All children and teens are additionally encouraged to improvise and to experiment with popular music and jazz.
Music can be a life-long practice and should bring joy, well-being, and an emotional outlet to each student. Since every student has his or her unique learning style, I work with each to determine how best to introduce and perfect playing and performance, always with patience and a sense of humor.

Covid-19 Update: The studio has now re-opened for in-person lessons! Those still wishing to study remotely may continue to learn via zoom. New students may register for winter lessons.
All in-person lessons require the student to wear a mask and be prepared to hand sanitize before the lesson. I am remaining at the other piano, with a distance of 11 feet. At this time, parents are asked to wait in the garden or return for the children when the lesson ends.
Thank you all for continuing on your musical journey throughout this pandemic.
